How does playing with the physicality of data change its effects? A clock is a simple physical representation of data, but waking to a digital alarm clock produces a different experience than an analog clock with a bell. Together we will explore various approaches to representing data in different mediums in order to tell a story. We will collect data on a specific topic of interest and use various materials to embody the data. This workshop can help give students new frames of reference to use as tools in their own contexts — perhaps to educate, tell a convincing story, adjust perspective, educate, evoke emotion, look at the bigger picture, encourage mindfulness, or inspire action.
We have a limited number of scholarships for our workshops. If you need an application, please send an email to email@example.com with your complete name and contact information.
If you need academic credits for the workshops, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
