Max/MSP is a powerful and easy-to-learn visual programming language used by artists, composers, software designers and researchers to create interactive and/or generative new media and tools. Workshop participants will learn how to create in Max/MSP, completing exercises provided and pursuing personal interests. With an emphasis on signal processing and sound design, participants will create sonic and visual effects, custom interfaces and user experiences, and unique, tweak-able algorithms for interactive and generative new media. Also, participants will reflect collectively on code as a pervasive, invisible material shaping our contemporary, mediated environment and on the role of creative code in expanding access and agency.
