Few applications are as versatile for creating a real-time experience as TouchDesigner: the node-based programming environment that lets you take nearly any kind of input (MIDI, Kinect, your webcam, 3D models, data sets, Python code), and produce nearly any kind of output (projection maps, LED lighting, video, generative graphics, audio). The applications are nebulous, from arena-scale concert lighting and video design, to trade show presentation, to large interactive art installations. Despite the limitless options, there are some key principles that apply to any TouchDesigner program; we will take an in-depth look at the signal flow of inputs, modifiers, and outputs, as well as building several examples with different forms of media.
